Career Overview
After eight
years as an automotive tooling design engineer, I successfully transitioned to the role of educator and course developer for
middle and high school technology programs, taking my real world “industry” training and experience into the classroom.
In
addition to teaching typical computer courses (e.g., keyboarding, Internet research techniques,
and Microsoft Office applications), I developed and taught technology courses in 3D animation,
CAD, web design, and electronics.
Advanced technology projects
include building and programming autonomous robots
at the middle and high school levels. The term `robot' implies that the systems are capable of performing purposeful
behaviors in the real world. They obtain inputs from the world through sensors and act upon the world through actuators. Most
autonomous systems display some form of mobility: on land, under water, in the air or in space. The mobility may make use
of wheels, legs, fins, rotors or other actuators.
